Lydia is a very kindhearted housewife, but is also prone to being melodramatic. She was extremely reluctant to let her son [[Rodney Copperbottom|Rodney]] go off on his own, and made every effort to stop him until her husband [[Herb Copperbottom|Herb]] convinced her that he needed to go. It was hard for Lydia; she was very sad to see Rodney leave. At the end of the movie, Lydia, like her husband, is overjoyed to see Rodney again when he returns to [[Rivet Town]]. She is very proud of her son and his accomplishments, and is happy to see Herb live out his dream of being a musician. Lydia would later go on to have a second child with [[Herb Copperbottom|Herb]] who was in a unnamed spin-off TV show in 2007 however my life as a teenage robot began 6 months before the release so they canned the project.

In a deleted-scene included with the special Blu-Ray release of Robots, Lydia in an intimate encounter with Mr. Nuts. Herb bursts in the room, catching the two in their scandalous act. He leaves the house, and in a fit of rage, he sets fire to his place of employment. It is implied that Herb burned along with the building, having lost his will to live. A year passes and one last scene is shown with Mr. Nuts and Lydia being wed, thus making her Lydia Nuts and her son, Rodney Nuts.<gallery captionalign="left">

Lydia Copperbottom is a supporting character in Robots. She is voiced by Dianne Wiest.
